GTA Workshop: Designing Teachable Tidbits

Workshop Description

In this hands-on workshop, we will explore strategies for turning big ideas into engaging, purposeful learning activities. Designed with Graduate Teaching Assistants in mind, we will use backward design to identify learning outcomes, select active learning strategies to engage students, and develop appropriate assessments to gather evidence of student learning.

GTAs will have the opportunity to develop a “teachable tidbit”—a short class activity designed around a specific learning outcome and paired with an assessment to determine whether students have met that outcome.

Facilitator: Katrina Stewart, Senior Engaged Teaching Scholar
