The following guides are provided to help the WVU community better understand our
Center and how we support instructors across WVU.
Referrals
The Teaching and Learning Center does not reach out to individual instructors on
behalf of schools, departments, or programs. If you would like to refer an instructor
to the Center, please review the information provided in the section below:
Mentors ▼
If you're mentoring an instructor and feel that they could benefit from the support
and services offered by the Teaching and Learning Center, we’d love to help!
Feel free to share our website (TLC.wvu.edu) with your mentee or, even better,
explore the site together to see the events and services we currently offer.
Encourage your mentee to reach out to us directly or sign up for one of our upcoming
events. We’re here to support them!
Written Performance Improvement Plan ▼
If you've provided an instructor with a written performance improvement plan, and
it includes recommendations for enhancing their teaching, our Center is here
to assist! The Teaching and Learning Center is just one of many resources available
to instructors at WVU. Depending on the instructor’s needs, they might also find
valuable resources through
WVU Libraries, the
Eberly Writing Studio, the
University Testing Center,
Accessibility Services
, the
National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD), the
Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or other mentorship programs
within your department. There are also a variety of national and regional teaching
conferences that might be helpful. Invite them to visit our website (TLC.wvu.edu)
and encourage them to reach out if they think our services align with their goals. We’re here to
help them on their journey!
Concerning ESCF or SPOT ▼
If you've noticed concerning feedback in an instructor's ESCF (Early Semester Course
Feedback) or SPOT (Student Perception of Teaching) data, the Teaching and Learning
Center can be a great resource. We’re just one option among many available to
instructors at WVU. Depending on their specific needs, they might also find support
through
WVU Libraries, the
Eberly Writing Studio, the
University Testing Center,
Accessibility Services
, the
National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD), the
Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, or a mentorship program within
their department. National and regional teaching conferences can also be valuable.
Invite them to explore our website (TLC.wvu.edu) and encourage them to reach out if our services
seem like a good fit. We’re here to help!
Requests for Reports or Confirmation of Participation
The Teaching and Learning Center doesn't provide progress reports or confirmations
of an instructor’s participation in our activities. However, instructors are welcome
to share artifacts from their work with the Center in their annual review, P&T
dossier, or teaching portfolio. They can also share the practices they found effective
in their teaching. If you need documentation, it’s best to reach out to the instructor
directly.
Request a Small Group Event
We’d love to collaborate with your school, department, program, or community of inquiry
to create workshops or services that meet your needs! Whether you’d like us to
run a workshop we've offered before or customize a session just for your group,
we’re excited to help you reach your goals.
