The Development-Focused Peer Review of Teaching is a signature program from the WVU Teaching and Learning Center. Instructors learn how to give and receive a peer review of teaching in a supportive environment. We will use a collection of peer review forms as instructors participate in a formative, development-focused peer review. While the WVU Teaching and Learning Center supports peer review for formative purposes, the skills we'll cover are also useful when conducting summative peer reviews for annual evaluation.
West Virginia University (Morgantown)
Sarah McCorkle, Center Director, will facilitate this cohort: Average time commitment is 8-10 hours over Fall Semester. If you plan to apply with a peer, each person should submit an application. Space is limited and applications from full time faculty members will take priority. (GTAs must be paired with another GTA in the cohort or apply with their faculty mentor. Each person should submit an application.)
Tuesday, October 13 from 9:00 - 11:00
- Kick off meeting and information session on Tuesday, October 13 from 9:00 - 11:00 at Evansdale Library. Coffee, breakfast pastries, and fruit will be served.
- Faculty will self-schedule their peer review and observation (on a day and time convenient to them) during the month of November.
- The cohort will reconvene in December on a day and time of the cohort's choice.

WVU Tech (Beckley)
Kimberlyn Gray, Senior Engaged Teaching Scholar, will facilitate this cohort: Each faculty member will meet individually with me to discuss your goals for the peer review process and what you hope to gain from the experience. Faculty members will be work with a partner to complete peer reviews of each other. Both faculty members will be reviewers and reviewees. We will meet as a group for 1 hour near the end of September to review the process and set up pre-review conferences for each pair. From September 28 to November 20, pairs will complete a Peer review of teaching for each other. Pairs will meet for a final discussion of the peer review of teaching by Dec 4. The full cohort will have an in-person follow-up discussion before Dec 11.
