GTA Workshop: Developing Your Teaching Persona and Classroom Presence

Workshop Description

Designed with Graduate Teaching Assistants in mind, this hands-on workshop will provide actionable strategies for public speaking, effective presentation of instructional content, and classroom management. We will also discuss how to set our students up for success by creating healthy boundaries for ourselves and our students, with the goal of fostering student self-regulation and organization. The session concludes with an opportunity to draft a “Mini Teaching Philosophy” which can be used as your teaching persona changes shape over time. Teaching assistants, faculty members, instructors, and instructional staff are welcome to attend. Please bring your laptop to this workshop session.

Facilitator: Katrina Stewart, Senior Engaged Teaching Scholar
