Thank you for your interest in applying to our Faculty Learning Community (FLC) on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
This application is open to faculty members across West Virginia
University who are interested in disseminating their evidence-based
teaching practices through peer reviewed academic journals, teaching
publications, and teaching conferences.

Logistical Information:
- Meetings will be held in Morgantown, WV with remote connections available to those who are not within commuting distance (e.g., Beckley, Keyser, WVU Online).
- Applicants will provide their general availability for spring semester. Meetings will be held approximately every two weeks based upon the group's availability.
- Space in the community will be limited and priority will be given to applicants who have identified a specific topic to explore.
Tentative Spring Semester Agenda:
- What is a Faculty Learning Community? What is the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning?
- Reviewing the literature and locating conferences and publication outlets for your work
- Developing your research plan, identifying potential sources of data, and methods for your analysis
- Ethical considerations, Human Subjects Research and your IRB submission at WVU
- Technology tools, productivity strategies, and institutional support
Extended Summer Semester Support:
- Writing support and peer support
- Responding to calls and/or submitting manuscripts
- Responding to reviewer feedback and/or strategies for resubmission
- Using your SoTL project to communicate teaching impact in promotion or tenure dossiers
