Scholarly Teaching Project

Recharge. Reconnect. Renew.
A Learning Community Focused on Teaching

Faculty need to take time for self-care and to recharge but often wait until it’s too late and they’re feeling too stressed. Mezera responded to this need by creating a community to focus on strengthening human connection to others while creating an environment where faculty could recharge their shared passion for teaching. This resulted in a space for those new to the WVU campus as well as faculty who knew their way around campus but wanted to reconnect and expand their network across other teaching disciplines.

During the fall 2025 semester, social opportunities were organized to help faculty members get to know one another and engage and interact outside the classroom, while showcasing the resources and activities across campus and our local Morgantown community. As faculty connected with one another, opportunities for the exchange of support on navigating teaching-related issues came about organically. Facilitation notes were taken during these social moments, and this data is being used to inform the WVU Teaching and Learning Center’s spring 2026 semester programming, talks, and workshops.
